About Ylivieska Cultural Centre Akustiikka
The concert hall project was part of Western Finland’s objective 2 programme and Northern Ostrobothnia’s objective 2 programme. The project was an EU and public project.
The owner is the City of Ylivieska. The project was the third EU cultural centre project to be implemented in Finland.
The designers of Cultural Centre Akustiikka’s, originally Ylivieskatalo Akustiikka, building are UKI Arkkitehdit from Oulu. Architect Alpo Halme from Helsinki operated as the designer of the main hall’s acoustics.
Private funding of the project
The advocacy association organised fund-raising campaigns to raise private funding alongside the sales of chairs. Partners included, for example, associations, companies and organisations.
In the chair sales campaign, a chair buyer received a named chair from the main hall’s stall. In addition, the buyer received an invitation twice a year to a special concert, i.e. a chair concert. Special concerts were organised until 2012.
The price of a seat for associations and private individuals was 500-600 euros. For companies and public households, the price of the chair varied from 1,000 euros to 5,000 euros depending on the location of the chair.
Received donations
- Grants: 15,000€ from the Central Ostrobothnia fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation in 2002 to purchase a concert grand piano.
- Grants: 15,000€ from the Northern Ostrobothnia fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation in 2003 to purchase a concert grand piano
Support from the cultural centre’s advocacy association
The cultural centre’s advocacy association acquired a digital grand piano for the Cultural Centre in 2016 as well as a painting called Bachelor in 2018 painted by artist Teemu Paloranta.
